MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 4714618. Bbl. 24". Marked behind front sight "SC / flaming bomb / 6 43". Adj. aperture rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Blade front sight. Replacement bolt w/ Remington type safety lug. Handle is marked "X" on top & "1" on the bottom. Correct scalloped bolt shroud. All stamped furniture including checkered trap buttplate. Correct Smith Corona large bow trigger guard. Straight grip stock w/ 2 reinforcing pins. Stock is marked on left side w/ crisp boxed "FJA" & "crossed cannons". Encircled "P" proof under grip & 4 assembly numbers in-front of trigger guard. Model 1907 type leather sling. CONDITION: stock set has very nice original finish w/ light wear & scattered handling marks. Light sanding marks are visible due to expedited wartime construction. Metal retains 95% original mix of Parkerized & blue finishes w/ very light wear. Very good shiny 4 groove bore. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Mark Ivey Godfrey. (24-5242/RW). CURIO. $700-1,000.
