CARBINE. Cal. 30 Carb. S# 2140005. Bbl. 18", marked behind the front sight "UNDERWOOD 12-43" with a flaming bomb. Milled adjustable aperture rear sight marked with "H" in shield. Blade front sight with protective ears. The milled sight base is marked "N". Narrow barrel band with stamped swivel. Straight-cut slide marked with an encircled "S". A flat bolt is marked "S29". Fabricated trigger guard marked "ST". Push-button safety. Mag. catch marked "SW". Straight hammer marked "SW". Walnut stock and handguard. A low wood oval-cut buttstock is marked on the right side with cross cannons. Recoil plate marked "W". The two-rivet handguard is marked "IO". Handguard has a small hole in the center of the groove. Green web sling. MAGS: 1–15 rd., marked "IU". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 2-pocket "U.S."-marked mag. pouch. Marked on the back is "BOYT 43". CONDITION: buttstock has moderate wear and scattered handling marks with a large percentage of original finish. Handguard has light wear and handling marks with an added finish. Metal has 75% of its original parkerized finish with mixed shading. Receiver and slide are notably darker. Very good, shiny bore. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Curtis H. Halvorson. (23-5888/RW).
