Cal. 22 LR. S# 5489. Bbl. 23". Early WWII era trainer. Blowback operated self loading rifle. Protected blade front sight of U.S. military style; Redfield rear sight. Mfg. 1943-1945. Buttstock dimensions identical to M1 Garand. Smooth gray parkerized finish. Rudimentary spring loaded push button hold open latch. Cocking accomplished by finger activation of operating rod in bottom of forend by same manner as H&R Reising machine gun. Robust stamped metal trigger guard & grooved metal buttplate. Military style swivels w/ tan canvas sling. MAGS: 1 good factory 10 rd. & 2-10 rd., floorplate stamped "Marlin". CONDITION: finish on exposed metal surfaces is complete & consistent demonstrating an old patina staining particularly on bbl. w/ some thinning on receiver. Stock has several scratches & minor impressions though appears appropriately aged. Bright bore w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand.
