Cal. 39. NSN. Bbl. 39 1/8". American full stock percussion Kentucky rifle produced by an unknown maker. The rifle is devoid of any markings, save for "REAMSTOWN PA", which is stamped on the left flat of the octagonal bbl, at the rear. Lockplate exhibits some light scroll engraving, with a scene of 2 birds engraved on the left side of the plate. Full length wood stock features a German silver oval escutcheon on the wrist, with a German silver inlay present on the cheek rest. Brass buttplate, patchbox, trigger guard, ramrod ferrules, and nose cap. Wrist exhibits a break that has been reinforced with a brass band. Metal components have been cleaned at one time, with the stock having been sanded and revarnished. CONDITION: iron components exhibit a mottled gray patina, with corrosion present on the lockplate and on the bbl. around the percussion bolster. Brass components are very good, as previously cleaned, exhibiting some scattered handling marks overall. Stock exhibits some scattered marks from handling and storage, exhibiting a couple small cracks and chips, as well as the aforementioned repair at the wrist. PROVENANCE: from the Lifelong Collection of Robert "Mike" Bricker. (01-24931/MLW). ANTIQUE. $500-800.
