Cal. 38. NSN. Bbl. 30 1/4" heavy octagon measuring 1" across flats. Brass blade front sight w/ elevator adj. U notch rear sight. Engraved trade lock. Double set triggers. Pin fastened half-length walnut stock w/ pewter nosecap. Brass fittings include crescent buttplate, toeplate, heelplate, oval lid patchbox, finger curl trigger guard, sideplate, ornate escutcheons & thimble. Additional brass ornamentation consists of large engraved plate along bottom of forearm w/ pierced pick plate under cheekpiece & ornate inlays at top & sides of wrist. Iron ramrod is held on iron underrib by 2 plain pipes. WEIGHT: 10 lbs, 6.2 oz. CONDITION: metal has a dark heavy brown patina w/ scattered pitting. Lock is not functioning & has weakly visible engraving. Stock has age darkened appearance showing handling marks w/ crack extending from right side of buttplate. Area above forward portion of lock has a tacked brass plate repair. Dark pitted bore retaining largely intact rifling. (01-25424/DS). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
