Cal. 22. S# 445 (beneath left grip panel). Bbl. 2 7/16". Unmarked Eclipse type derringer believed to have been mfg. by Iver Johnson circa. 1870-1880. Derringer is virtually unmarked, save for "445" on the frame beneath the left grip panel. Frame and bbl. exhibit a nickel plated finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece plain wood bird's head grips. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original nickel plated finish, exhibiting scattered small spots of bubbling and flaking, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as areas of wear fading to gray patina. Right side of bbl. exhibits a large section of flaking. Bore exhibits consistent mild to moderate pitting. Proper manual mechanics, save for the hammer, which occasionally drops without the trigger being pulled. Grips show scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the right panel exhibiting a large crack on the interior, which is partially visible on the exterior at the bottom of the panel. (01-28046/MLW). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
