Cal. 36. NSN. Bbl. 5". Single shot percussion pistol produced by an unknown mfg. Pistol is unmarked save for a starburst pattern that is engraved on either side of the frame and on the underside of the trigger guard, with light foliate engraving present on the left side of the hammer and on the upper receiver tang. Metal components exhibit a lustrous high polished blue finish, which appears to have been reapplied at one time. Smooth wood grip features checkered panels at and behind the lock assembly on either side. Rear strap of grip is inlaid with a brass diamond escutcheon. Offset brass blade front sight and notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied high polish blue finish, exhibiting some mild wear, with scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation present overall. Underside of receiver and receiver tang exhibit several small spots of pitting beneath the finish. Action holds at half-cock, but does not hold at full-cock. Grip exhibits scattered marks from handling and storage, with a crack stemming from the upper receiver tang, as well as a gap that is present between the grip and the lower portion of the frame.
