PRE-WORLD WAR I DWM "1913" DATE P.08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 263a. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM under contract for the Imperial German military in 1913. The bbl. extension is marked "1913" over the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs on the right, and the S# marked on the left. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Major metal components exhibit a rust blue finish, with some small parts exhibiting either a straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard sight configuration, with dovetailed blade front sight and V-notch rear sight. This example is unaltered, and was not returned to the arsenal to be retrofitted with a hold-open latch. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the grips. MAGS: 1 wood bottom 8-rd. CONDITION: very good to fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original rust blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear and thinning, as well as scattered spots of light surface oxidation overall. Front grip strap exhibits mild surface oxidation, with the rear grip strap exhibiting moderate degrees of dark surface oxidation. Strawed parts show varying degrees of wear, with worn areas exhibiting a gray patina and scattered spots of age related discoloration. Mirror bore, exhibiting some very light pitting, while retaining sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Grips show mild smoothing, as well as a few scattered nicks and minor impressions from handling and storage. Wood bottom on mag. has broken, with a large section of the right half no longer being present. An exceptionally attractive, untouched, and unaltered DWM "1913" date P.08 Luger. (25-535/MLW).
