SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 8209. Bbl. 4". Model 1920 Commercial Luger semi-automatic pistol, mfg. by DWM for commercial sales. The bbl. extension is appropriately blank over the chamber, with a Crown/N commercial nitro proof faintly visible on the left. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. This example is unusual in that the S# suffix on both the frame and bbl. has been over stamped with a crown, with online research suggesting that this anomaly occurs within the "s" and "t" blocks of 1920 commercial production. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, save for on a few small parts, which exhibit either a straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece contemporary checkered wood grips. All serialized parts are matching in the commercial fashion and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, bbl., and rear toggle link. Wood bottom mag. is numbered "8209" vertically at the rear. MAGS: one 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked period brown leather holster. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some wear and thinning, as well as some scattered superficial handling marks overall. Stock lug exhibits some oxidation and pitting on its lower half, with a couple small spots of pitting present on the sideplate. Very bright bore, exhibiting light pitting while retaining good rifling throughout. Grips show some light smoothing but are otherwise very good overall. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting some wear as well as some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Jim Williams. (24-2692/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
