Cal. 40 rifled. NSN. Bbl. 37 1/2", signed "E. SPECHT". Has an English flintlock marked "W. KETLAND & CO." Has a curly maple stock w/ a 4 piece brass patchbox w/ 4 piercings. There is a 5" brass saddle plate & dbl. set triggers. There are 8 silver inlays along the forestock. Elias Specht was born in 1820, died in 1890 & was the son of gunsmith Adam Specht. Elias worked in Beaver Township, Snyder County. CONDITION: bbl. was professionally cut 4" from the back in period. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19668/RG). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
