Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 40". Blade front sight. Dual leaf rear sight. Rear of lock has 1863 date. Center of lock has US eagle and "US BRIDESBURG" markings. Top rear of bbl. has an 1863 date. Rear left of bbl. has "VP" proof marking. Buttplate tang marked "U.S." Walnut stock with bottom-mounted sling swivels. Left side of stock has two faint inspector's cartouches. Tulip head ramrod present. CONDITION: stock appears to have an old cleaning with some chips, most notably in the ramrod channel, scattered dings, and handling wear. Metal is a gray patina with scattered dings, oxidation, and pitting. Action appears to function when hand-cycled. Bore shows scattered pitting and oxidation but evident rifling. (01-25593/MJC).
