RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. S# 499762. Bbl. 32 1/2". Receiver mfg. in 1890. Breech block marked "US MODEL 1884". Buffington rear sight marked "R" graduated to 2,000 yards. Blade front sight. Three click tumbler. Flat lockplate marked "US SPRINGFIELD". Two piece trigger guard. Correct ramrod is present. Walnut stock w/ two bands fastened by springs. Long comb stock has faint illegible boxed acceptance mark on left side. CONDITION: stock has worn arsenal rework type finish w/ numerous handling marks. Metal has turned overall patina w/ moderate oxidation & areas of fine pitting. Bore has strong lands w/ a degree of shine. Grooves have frosting & bore has scattered fine pitting throughout. (01-26343/RW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
