BELT & BUCKLE. Overall length: 25 3/4". Blade length: 19 1/8”. Plain blade with one 10 1/2" medium fuller below dual 3 3/4" fullers on each side. Blade is stamped near the hilt “(eagle) N.P. AMES SPRINGFIELD” on one side & “UNITED STATES 1841 WS” on the other. Solid brass hilt with eagle-impressed pommel & fish scale grip featuring 3 iron rivets. Leather scabbard with brass mounts. White buff leather sword belt with a US M1839 pattern enlisted artillery plate. CONDITION: blade has areas of original factory with some minor staining. Hilt has a pleasing mustard patina, as does do the scabbard mounts. Scabbard shows some minor flexing but remains solid. Belt has darkened with age and is a bit dry. Buckle has a pleasing deep patina. (02-21225/BF). $1,000-1,400.
