HOLSTER & APPROPRIATE BOXES. This lot consists of a fine M1874 cavalry belt with a standard M1872 “US” belt plate. The belt is equipped with two rectangular brass suspension brackets. The bracket closest to the keeper has a brass-hooked loop for sword suspension, and the front bracket has a leather strap with a quick-detach clip at the end. The rig includes a scarce M1875 unmarked Hoffman swivel holster in black bridle leather. Furthermore, the rig has a fine black bridle leather Dyer patent cartridge pouch with “US” in oval embossed on the front. The rear of the box is marked “WATERVLIET ARSENAL”. Lastly, there is a black bridle leather pistol cartridge box resembling a cap box but with “US” in an oval embossed on the front flap. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: please see pages 754 through 758 of the Meadows book for similar examples. A copy of these pages is included with the lot. CONDITION: belt generally shows light wear with some flexing and flaking. Rear strap is missing, but the front strap remains strong with a good finish. The holster shows light overall wear with light flexing and moderate flaking, particularly on the belt loop. The Dyer box and pistol cartridge box show light overall wear.
