APPROPRIATE M1887 CAVALRY PRIVATES UNIFORM. Helmet features the long yellow plume worn by enlisted & cavalry members along w/ the yellow helmet cords & uniform cords. Plume holder base, eagle & side posts are gilded brass. Front plate has crossed sabers surmounted by an American shield bearing the number “7”. Side posts have crossed sabers on each. Interior vent is marked, “RAYMOLD & WHITLOCK”. Uniform is dark blue w/ dark yellow trim & piping in the style of the M1887. There are 9 coat size M1872 eagle buttons down the front & 4 on the tails. Each cuff has 3 cuff size buttons & the collar tabs each have 1. Interestingly, there is an original, early sharpshooter badge attached to the left breast. Quilted liner w/ polished cotton lined tails. A nice, early Cavalry group to add to your collection. CONDITION: hat shows light wear overall & is complete. Uniform has a few scattered moth tracks but remains quite solid. Colors are vivid. (02-15766/BF). 1,600-1,900.
