CAVALRY. Helmet has a gilded brass plume holder w/ a white or very faded yellow plume atop an oak leaf base. The front plate is a gilded brass eagle w/ an applied shield & crossed sabers on the front. The shield has a silvered “1” on the lower portion of the shield. Helmet has bullion cords on the front & rear, and chinstrap buttons for the Cavalry on the either side. The helmet body construction is 4-piece, and the interior is lined w/ white silk that is marked in the crown “RIDABOCK & CO., FORMERLY BAKER & McKENNEY NEW YORK”. CONDITION: the plume may be faded yellow, but appears dirty white now. Helmet body is solid and fittings are complete. The sweatband is nearly gone but the liner, though worn, remains substantially intact. (02-21278/BF). $300-500.
