SONS RECONVERTED. Cal. 69. S# NSN. Standard configuration with a 44-1/2" barrel. Jenks had a contract for 4,000 muskets, with 3,925 believed to be delivered. The barrel is stamped "US" over a "CT" eagle head oval cartouche over "V.". The federal contract-marked lock has "US" in front of the cock, and the rear is marked vertically "JENKS, s", "RI," and "1812". Walnut stock with iron mounts has remnants of inspectors marking on the left side. CONDITION: fair to good. The metal was cleaned to silver over considerable pitting. Stock sanded and refinished, edges rounded. Rusted bore. Reconversion works fairly well. (01-24442/MGM). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
