54 Cal. NSN. Standard configuration. 15.25" overall, 9” barrel proofed “P / US” at breech and “RJ” over touch hole seen only on earlier production double strap band with brass sight. Lock is marked “S. NORTH / US (w/ eagle) / MIDLN CON”. Stock has “LS” (Luther Sage) cartouche. This is a good solid original flint example of the first American 54 cal martial pistol following 69cal model 1813 with longer barrel and now sighted. This model was beginning of line of 54 cal martial dragoon pistols culminating in last model 1842 prior to martial Colt revolvers. CONDITION: very good overall. Appears complete & matching w/ exception of top jaw, top jaw screw, & replacement ramrod. Markings very good and well struck & discernible. Metal overall has gray/dark iron patina w/ pitting. Mechanically fine, clear smooth bore. (01-21464/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
