Cal. 58. NSN. 12"1855 dated barrel with “V P / eaglehead” proof. Crisp inspector cartouche and unusual “US” cartouche between escutcheon screws. Detachable stock has "US" surcharge on buttplate. Often seen in early war photographs of U.S. & Confederate soldiers. CONDITION: very good, complete, and original, assembly number on pistol is "0" maybe be worn “10” and stock "14". One leaf of rear sight is broken. Iron patina with pitting at breech. Brass medium mustard patina. Stocks are sound & solid w/ hairline crack on both sides of wrist of pistol, scattered cosmetic dings & dents. Mechanics fine including Maynard capping device, clean rifled bore. (01-21498/JS).
