Cal.45ACP. S# 12068. Bbl. 5.5". An early military addition as the US entered WWI & was encountering a shortage of 1911 pistols. Traditional double action revolver chambered in 45ACP, utilizing half-moon clips. Correctly marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on bottom of barrel, forward of trigger guard. Butt stamped "US ARMY 1917" above lanyard loop w. serial number below. Matching numbers on frame, barrel & ejector. Clear inspector mark "GHS" in circle, signifying inspection by Gilbert H. Stewart. Blued finish w/ fixed sights. Checkered hammer spur & cylinder release. 2 piece hardwood grips w/ matching wood spacer affixed by screw between grips & trigger guard. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 8 1/2 moon clips, 2 full moon clips & Brownells unloading tool. CONDITION: Blued finish is present & largely complete, w/ barrel thinning primarily at the first 2" of the muzzle on either side. Some thinning on cylinder high spots, top strap & rear grip strap, typically indicative of repetitive holstering & light use. All markings & numbers are clear & crisp. Bore is a little dark but retains descent rifling. (22-5711/JZ). CURIO. $1000-1500.
