Over 100,000 of these reliable easy-to-operate receivers were mfg. by various companies in the US as well as abroad. Among the aircraft which used this receiver, were the B17, B24, B29 & C47 aircraft. Notably, the B29 Enola Gay carried one of these receivers. They remained in service until the early 1970s. The receiver has a nomenclature plate mounted on the front marked "SIGNAL CORP / US ARMY / RADIO RECEIVER / BC-348-Q / S# 2792 / MADE BY WELLS GARDNER & CO.". Included in the lot is a hobbyist constructed amplifier system mounted on a wooden tray & uses a 110 volt power source. There is also a Realistic speaker which is not connected & a modern quartz decorative clock. CONDITION: receiver retains 70% of its worn black military original finish w/ legible markings. The tuning & band switch appear to function well. The other switches all appear to be functional. (02-24022/RW). NON-GUN. $100-200.
