Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 42". Round brass blade front sight. Percussion updated Springfield Armory 1816 musket. Center of the lock has an eagle and US markings. Rear of the lock has a "SPRINGFIELD 1839" marking. Upper tang is dated 1839. Rear of the bbl. has circled P proof w/ eagle & "V" marking. Lock is functional when hand-cycled. Walnut stock with three bands and bottom-mounted sling swivels. Tang of buttplate marked "U.S.". Left stock flat has a faint inspector's cartouche, and the right side of the butt has a carved lowercase "t". A short replacement ramrod is present. CONDITION: stock shows a couple small cracks near action, a few chips, scattered scratches, dings, and handling wear. Metal has a gray patina with scattered oxidation. Oxidized bore. (01-25500/MJC). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
