RIFLE. Cal. 50-70. S# 629. Bbl. 29 5/8". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 900yds. Matching numbers on receiver & bbl. Breechblock has 1870 date, eagle & "US" marking. Lock has 1864 date, eagle & "US SPRINGFIELD" marking. Blued trigger guard, upper tang, lock, rear sight, breechblock & receiver. Walnut stock w/ two bands & lacking sling provisions. Slotted tip ramrod present. CONDITION: stock shows an old sanding w/ added finish, some chipping in ramrod channel, three added notches on left side of wrist, some paint remnants on toe, scattered dings & handling wear. Bbl. appears cleaned long ago w/ some oxidation & dings. Bands, hammer & trigger guard are turning gray w/ scattered oxidation. Rear sight, breechblock, receiver, upper tang & lock retain strong amounts of an old reblue w/ scattered oxidation & fading. Fair bore w/ scattered patches of pitting but strong rifling.
