CONVERSION. Cal. 7.62 NATO. S# 2252314. Bbl. 24". Barrel is marked on right side with "S-A-4-47" & "7.62 NATO". This rifle manufactured in 1943, was given a replacement barrel manufactured in 1947 and subsequently converted to 7.62 NATO by the addition of a sleeve in the chamber. It also has the white plastic spacer in the magazine well which prevents the inadvertent loading of 30-06 ammunition. Locking bar rear sight. Blade front sight with protective ears. All major parts markings except hammer marked "SA". Operating rod has the original square notch. Milled trigger guard. Walnut stock set. Buttstock has very faint acceptance marks & encircled "P" proof due to its arsenal rework finish. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear and handling marks with an arsenal rework finish showing scattered areas of light sandy marks. Metal retains 85% of its arsenal rework parkerized finish with light wear. Very good shiny bore. (26-1342/RW). CURIO. $900-1,400.
