RIFLE. Cal. 50-70. S# 21279. Bbl. 32 5/8". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 900yds. Matching numbers on bbl. & receiver. 1870 dated high arch breechblock. 1863 dated Springfield lock. Walnut stock w/ bottom mounted sling swivels. No ramrod present. Right side of butt has odd cross carving. Left stock flat has upside down carved "195". Top of wrist has another carved number that appears to be "1952". CONDITION: left side of stock has large 2 3/4" chipped area behind stock flat, stock otherwise shows some chipping in ramrod channel, a crack running from behind upper tang to chipped area, another crack behind lock, scattered dings & handling wear. Metal is mostly a gray patina w/ some traces of original case colors, a few areas of pitting & scattered oxidation. Fair bore w/ scattered pitting & oxidation. (01-23755/MJC). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
