MILITARY RIFLE.
Cal. 45-70.S# 456269. Bbl. 32 5/8". "R" marked Buffington rear sight. Blade front sight. Lockplate marked with "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" and "eagle".Case colored low arch breech block dated "1884". Correct ramrod is present. Two piece trigger guard. Original finish Walnut long comb stock marked on left side with crisp boxed "SWP" and circle script "P". US marked buttplate. CONDITION: Stock has a good appearance with the normal wear expected from a well used military rifle. Forend has an area of missing finish on the right side between the bands. Metal has traces of blue turning patina with peppery oxidation and scattered fine pitting. Breech block shows faint case colors. Very good shiny bore with sharp lands. PROVENANCE: Estate of Frank Glenn Marsh (01-21272/RW). ANTIQUE. $700-1000.
