MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. S# 510677. Bbl. 32 1/2". S# indicates mfg. in 1991. Has the correct 1884 breech block date. Buffington rear sight marked "R" graduated to 2,000 yards. Blade front sight. Flat lockplate marked w/ eagle & "US SPRINGFIELD". Ramrod bayonet has the deep locking notches. One piece trigger guard. Three click tumbler. Long comb walnut stock w/ trap buttplate marked on left side over trigger guard. w/ "SWP / 1890". Marked behind trigger guard tang w/ encircled "P" proof. Tiny letters "P.D.R.". Buttstock is marked on left side "A / S.F. / 31". Stock has two bands fastened by springs. CONDITION: stock has very dark original finish w/ moderate wear & handling marks throughout. Metal has traces of blue turning patina w/ light oxidation & wear. Bore has a degree of shine w/ strong & sharp lands. Grooves have light frosting & scattered small pits notable near muzzle. (01-26344/RW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
