RIFLE WITH DESIREABLE TYPE C STOCK. Cal. 30-06. S# 1467764. Bbl. 24". Rifle was manufactured in 1934. Bbl. is marked behind the front sight “U.S.M.C. 9-43” with an encircled “S”. These bbls. were made by Sedgley and were used as field replacements by the United States Marine Corps during WWII. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2850 yds. Moveable base and windage knob, marked “R”. Blade front sight. Replacement Model 1903 A3 bolt, marked “X” on top of the bolt handle and “2” underneath. Receiver bridge has been drilled and tapped on the right side. One plug screw is not present. All milled furniture, including smooth trap butt plate. C-type stock is marked in cutoff recess with “S”, indicating manufacture by Springfield Armory. Walnut handguard. CONDITION: stock has nice appearance, retaining most of its original finish, with light wear and scattered small handling marks. Slight loss of wood in toe area. Metal retains most of its lightly worn arsenal rework blue finish, except for the receiver that appears to be the original dull blue. Sight ladder has been polished to enhance numbers.
