TRAINING RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 15802. Bbl. 24 1/2". Barrel is marked behind front sight "SA" flaming bomb "1-28". Bbl. marked on left side over chamber "LONG RIFLE CART'GE ONLY". Lyman Model 48C aperture rear sight. Blade front sight. Receiver & bbl. drilled for scope blocks. Receiver is marked "U.S. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY M1922 MII". Bright bolt marked on top of bolt handle "NS M2". Bolt is marked on forward end "M2" & "C3998" Also marked in electro-pencil at bottom of bolt "7866b". Rnd. knurled cocking piece. Walnut stock w/ grasping grooves marked on left side of butt w/ boxed "S.A.R." indicating overhaul & update at Springfield Armory. Circle "P" proof under grip. "P" has been altered to resemble the letter "B". Deep checkered buttplate w/out trap. Green web sling dated "1944". MAGS: 1 - 5 rd. blued steel. Marked on left side "M2".CONDITION: wood & metal retain a lg. degree of their arsenal rework finish w/ light staining & scattered handling marks. Parkerizing is notably thin at front sight base from use of a sight cover. Trigger guard has sm. dent & forward left edge. Markings on receiver & left side of butt. Very good shiny bore. (23-877/RW).
