SEMI-AUTO MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 869658. Bbl. 24". Bbl. is marked on right side "1-SA-6-45". Throat gauges 4.0; muzzle gauges 8.0. This interesting rifle was produced in August/September of 1942 & retains the locking bar rear sight. The elevation knob is convex but has a lathe turned appearance & is unmarked. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. All visible parts markings are "SA" except safety which is "WRA". Cross slot gas cyl. lock screw. Replacement trigger guard is stamped type. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked w/ very faint "RA-P" indicating overhaul at Raritan Arsenal where it is likely that the buttstock, trigger guard & bbl. were replaced. Buttstock is additionally marked on the left side w/ "1258284". CONDITION: stock set has moderately worn arsenal rework type finish w/ staining & handling marks throughout. Two notable dents on the left side. Missing chip at left end of grip. Rear hand guard has approx. 1" crack at top. Metal retains approx. 40% original finish w/ thinning, moderate wear & handling marks. Follower arm pin is hobbyist gunsmith replacement. Trigger housing tang has welded repair & does not latch correctly. Bore has strong rifling but turning dark w/ fine pitting. (23-622/RW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
