RIFLE.
Cal.30-06. S# 3221613. Bbl. 24" 2 groove barrel marked behind front sight "RA" "flaming bomb" and "7-42". Rifle made during the transition from the model 1903 to the 1903-A3 rifles. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2850 yards. Flat windage and elevation knobs. Blade front sight. Bolt with swept handle marked on top "BF" and "36". Scalloped Smith Corona bolt sleeve. Cut off is marked "R". All milled furniture except stamped buttplate. Replacement straight grip Walnut stock is marked on the left side with boxed "FJA". Marked under grip with two "P" proofs one is encircled one is not. Stock is made without grasping grooves and has a more rounded contour in the nose area of the buttstock. Handguard has slightly concave profile. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Model 1907 sling with brass hooks. no markings are visible. CONDITION: Stock set has an arsenal rework finish rendering the assembly marks in front of the trigger guard faint. Metal retains a large degree of original finish with wear and handling marks. Shiny bore with lightly worn lands. (22-5559/RW). CURIO. $500-900.
