RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1551093. Bbl. 24". Throat gauges 1.0. Muzzle gauges 1.5. Barrel marked on right side "3-S-A-4-43". Serial number indicates a manufacture date of April 1943. All visible parts markings are "SA". Locking bar aperture rear sight with "battle range" elevation knob. Blade front sight with protective ears. Milled triggerguard. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked on the left side with "RA-P". "P" proof under grip. Tiny "crossed cannons" at end of pistol grip. Well worn leather sling with brass hooks, marked "BOYT". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 12-8rd. M-1 Garand clips. Inert black plastic training grenade for unknown rifle. CONDITION: stock set is well worn from extensive service with numerous handling marks. Notable chipping at forward end of magazine well. A crack on the right side extends rearward from the magazine well to the grip. Front and rear handguards have 1" cracks at rear. Metal retains 75% of the original finish with thinning and wear. The two tone anneal is visible at the rear of the receiver. Very good shiny bore with sharp lands. (25-981/RW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
