MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1041322. Bbl. 24" replacement barrel is marked behind the front sight "SA / flaming bomb / 6-42". Ladder rear sight graduated to 2,850 yards with volley notch. Sight mounted on Remington style base without lightening cuts. Front sight blade has been replaced with Marbles sporting gold colored bead marked "SHEARD NO11". Receiver has the slot in the left rail which served as an ejection port for the short-lived Pedersen Device. Balance of the MKI parts have been replaced by the standard types at the time of overhaul. Model 1903A3 replacement bolt. Bolt has the un-scalloped safety lug typical of Smith Corona production, but is marked "R" on top of handle. All milled furniture including coarse checkered trap buttplate. Stacking swivel and screw are not present. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is straight grip Model 1903A3 type, unmarked and has two reinforcing pins. CONDITION: stock set has light wear with scattered small handling marks. Metal has an arsenal quality professional dull blue with light wear. Trigger guard bow has notably dented appearance. Very good shiny bore with sharp lands. (26-1350/RW). CURIO. $600-900.
