RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 64067. Bbl. 26". Barrel is marked behind front sight "E", a flaming bomb, and "5-18". Ladder aperture rear sight. Ladder is marked "W"; sight spring is marked "E". Blade front sight. Sight base marked "E".Receiver has the encircled star to the right of the eagle acceptance mark. This is reported to be present on early Winchesters due to interchangeability issues. The bolt handle and shroud are marked "E". Cocking piece is "W". Bolt release is 'E'. Walnut stock set. Stock is marked "E" at the forend tip. CONDITION: stock set has a nice original finish with moderate wear and handling marks. The receiver has most of its original blue finish; the balance of the parts has a mix of blue and early parkerized finishes. Follower has been modified to allow the bolt to close on an empty magazine. Bore with sharp lands has a small degree of frosting. (24-3905/RW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
