RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 139782. Bbl. 26". Replacement barrel is marked behind front sight "JA / flaming bomb". Two-tone receiver is marked with two "eagle" acceptance marks on top of the left rail and marked with a "flaming bomb" and encircled "star" on the side of the left rail. The encircled "star" indicates a rifle not to be shipped overseas. The bolt assembly safety, bolt stop and rear sight are marked "E". Walnut stock set. Stock is marked on the left side with a boxed "S S.A.A." indicating an overhaul at the San Antonio Arsenal. Stock tip is unmarked. Boxed "P" proof under grip. Swivel is missing from lower band. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear and handling marks throughout with an arsenal rework type finish. Handguards have fine cracks on top 5" or more in length. Metal retains 70% of its thinning worn finish. Very good shiny two groove bore with sharp lands. (26-484/RW). CURIO. $500-800.
