Cal. 30-06. S# 3765152. Bbl. 24". Barrel is marked "3 S A 4 45." Throat gauges 3.0. Muzzle gauges 2.0. "Locking Bar" rear sight with "Battle Range" elevation knob. Blade front sight with protective ears. Receiver is marked on right front leg "S-A 11-68" in electro-pencil, indicating an arsenal over haul in 1968. All major parts' markings are "SA." Trigger housing marked only with drawing #. Milled trigger guard. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked on the left side with crossed cannons and a boxed "SA / NFR" a WWII Springfield Armory rebuild mark. The next mark is the G.A.W. final acceptance mark, which is followed by another crossed cannon. The markings are all faint due to the arsenal rework finish. There are two "P" proofs under the grip, one of which is encircled, and "2165" is scratched inside the barrel channel. CONDITION: the stock set with its arsenal rework finish has moderate wear and handling marks throughout. The metal retains nearly 50% of its original finish, with thinning, wear, and small areas of oxidation. Bore has worn lands turning dark in the grooves. (24-3907/RW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
