RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3057547. Bbl.24". These rifles were made under contract for the U.S. government using machinery supplied by Rock Island Arsenal. This rifle has transitional features from Remington's ongoing efforts to reduce production time. Barrel is marked behind front sight "RA," a flaming bomb, and "2-42." Ladder rear sight graduated to 2850 yards. All sight markings are "R." Sight base made without lightning cuts. Blade front sight. Receiver tang is drilled through for guard screw. Bolt is made similar to the later 1903-A3 type. All bolt markings are "R." Cutoff marked "R." All milled furniture, except the lower band, is stamped. Smooth trap buttplate. Straight grip walnut stock with two recoil bolts. Stock is marked with only an encircled "P" proof under grip. Brown leather "UNCLE MIKE'S" sling. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear and handling marks over an arsenal rework finish. Metal retains 50% of its original worn Parkerized finish. Floorplate has been polished. Bore has worn lands and frosted grooves. (24-3828/RW). CURIO. $500-750.
