RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3018183. Bbl. 24". Marked behind front sight "RA / flaming bomb / 12-41". This rifle was produced by Remington on machinery obtained from Rock Island Arsenal & other than a slightly coarser wartime finish, does not exhibit the features introduced to reduce production cost. All visible parts markings including the bolt & trigger guard are "R". Ladder aperture rear sight w/o volley notch. Blade front sight w/ sight cover, which has drawing number on left side & triangle six on right side. All milled furniture including fine checkered trap buttplate. Walnut stock & handguard. Buttstock w/ two recoil bolts is the 1903A3 pistol grip style. Forend has transverse hole 3/16" in diameter at mid point between upper & lower bands. CONDITION: stock set exhibits considerable wear, scratches & handling marks w/ loss of finish & appears unmarked except for very faint encircled proof at end of pistol grip. Metal has turned overall gray w/ traces of original Parkerization & moderate wear throughout. Bore is shiny w/ lightly worn lands. (25-3108/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
