RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3328602. Import marked on bottom of barrel. Bbl. 24". Barrel is marked behind front sight "RA / flaming bomb / 12-42". These rifles were manufactured by Remington using machinery obtained from the Rock Island Arsenal and this rifle shows the beginning of the manufacturing shortcuts suggested by Remington to increase production. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2,850 yards. Rear sight base made without lightening cuts. Blade front sight. Protective sight hood is present. Replacement Remington Model 03A3 bolt. All milled furniture including smooth trap buttplate. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is a straight grip 1903A3 type with two reinforcing pins. Very faint encircled "P" proof under grip. CONDITION: stock set has extensive wear, staining, dents and scratches from long hard service. Finish is likely arsenal rework. Metal, turning gray and patina, with extensive wear. Notable damage to the lower band and matching gouge in forend. Stacking swivel is broken. Bore has ring in area of front sight base. Bore is frosted with worn lands. (25-6267/RW). CURIO. $300-500.
