MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3298997. Bbl. 24" marked behind front sight "RA" flaming bomb "11-42". Ladder rear sight graduated to 2850 yards. Rear sight ladder & movable base marked "R". Fixed base made w/out lightening cuts. Blade front sight w/ 2 piece base. Rifle is assembled as Early Remington Production Model 1903 Type using a Model 1903 A3 receiver which has been remarked to Model 1903. The dovetail on the receiver bridge has been removed leaving sm. flats at each end of bridge. Receiver tang is drilled though. Receiver has Hatcher Hole on the left side but no hole on the right side. Bolt is Remington 1903 A3 Type & marked "R" under bolt handle. Cutoff is marked "R". All milled parts including smooth trap buttplate. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked on left side over trigger guard w/ boxed "FJA" & very faint "RA" w/ crossed cannons. 2 proof marks are visible under grip, one of which is encircled. 4 assembly marks ahead of trigger guard tang. Boxed "OG" Ogden Utah Arsenal marking in cheek area. Marked w/ 2 "S" on left side near buttplate. Buttstock is milled in front of receiver ring for the 1903 A3 handguard retaining ring. Handguard is made with sighting groove. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework type finish w/ light wear & scatter handling marks. Metal has arsenal rework parkerization w/ thinning & light wear. Very good shiny bore. (23-5056/RW). CURIO. $900-1,100.
