GALIL RIFLE. Cal. 5.56/.223 S# MR02884. Bbl. 18". Conceived following the 1967 war when Israel was looking for a lighter alternative to the FAL rifle. It was based heavily on the AK-47 design, which the Arab armies had utilized and had been determined to have performed well. It was expanded upon by adding other features such as a folding bipod to increase stability and provide reasonable consistency under automatic fire, which also doubles as a wire cutter. A right side folding shoulder stock was utilized to be more useful to the mechanized units which required shorter platforms to fit inside vehicles. This particular rifle was manufactured by Israeli Military Industries & imported by Magnum Research Inc. of Minneapolis, MN. It has a threaded barrel, terminated w/ the proper A2 style flash hider. Ambidextrous safety / selector & magazine release. Scope mount on receiver, currently sporting Zeiss Diatal-C 4x32 scope w/ duplex crosshair, left of hooded post front sight w/ flip-up tritium night sight & dual aperture rear sight w/ flip up night sight. Left side sling swivels. Right side folding stock w/ cheek riser. Blond wood forend. Right side folding carry handle.
