POSTER. The United States Food Administration was created during WWI to convince the public to voluntarily change their eating habits in order to conserve food. The administration was headed by Herbert Hoover who devoted himself to war relief work including the efforts to help countries like Belgium. This color poster is taken from a lithograph by Charles Livingston Bull whose name appears in the lower left corner. The attractive green accented poster measures approx. 20 1/2" W X 30 1/2" L & is framed professionally in a silver colored frame. The poster is marked in the lower right corner "HEYWOOD STRASSER & VOIGT LITHO CO N.Y.". The poster depicts several fish swimming in an aquatic environment and is worded "Eat More Fish - They Feed Themselves". CONDITION: the poster has prominent colors & displays only light scattered edge wear w/ 2 sm. tears in the top right edge. (02-19429-1/RW). $800-1,200.
