PRONG FLASH HIDER. Cal. 223. S# SP01446. Bbl. 20". An exquisite example of a very early evolution of America’s longest serving military long arm. 20" Pencil bbl. terminated w/ threaded muzzle & 3 prong flash hider. Protected post front sight complete w/ bayonet lug, sling swivel & triangular handguard receiver. 2 Piece beavertail handguards. Straight wall delta ring. 2 Piece threaded front takedown pin. Slab side lower receiver. Carry handle upper receiver w/ no forward assist. Corresponding bolt carrier void of what would later become forward assist serrations. Early pin hole safety/selector. Period correct Edgewater buffer. 9.75" Shoulder stock w/out trap door sporting 6 o'clock sling swivel. MAGS: none. CONDITION: all exposed metal surfaces still appear to retain their factory finish. No significant scratches but only a few thin lines typically associated w/ vertical rack storage. It appears that this particular example may have been mfg. in 1964, still retaining its originality.
