M-1 GARAND SEMI-AUTO MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 424294. Bbl. 24". Barrel is marked on the right side (inverted) "S-A-12-41". British Export Proofs are located on top of barrel ahead of front handguard. Throat and muzzle gauge 1.0. "Flush Nut" aperture rear sight. Blade front sight with protective ears. All major parts markings are "SA'. Short fork follower. Small pad trigger housing with drawing # D-28290-6-SA . Milled trigger guard w/ drawing # C-46025-1-SA. Unmarked Walnut buttstock with amateur gunsmith bedding work visible only when stock is removed. Rear handguard has been shortened slightly at receiver ring. Front handguard is screwed tightly to lower band. Trap type buttplate. Brown leather military style sling. CONDITION: stock set has light wear and handling marks with added finish. Rear handguard has app. 2" crack at top rear. Metal retains 75% original finish with light wear and areas of light oxidation throughout. Very good shiny bore with sharp lands. (24-4178/RW).
