PICTURED IN EBERHART. Cal 41, S# 5034. Pictured on page 28 of Doug Eberhart's 2011 text on Colt & National Derringers. He describes this pistol as scarce: "Silver plated brass frame with blued barrel, S# 5034 is getting towards the end of production of the 1st model. It is .41 short rim fire caliber. This style finish is seldom seen". This pistol was the predecessor to Colt 2nd model derringers. Colt bought National Arms Company in 1870 and continued their manufacture of this model and selling Nationals in their inventory. Standard configuration 2.5" ovoid blued barrel with flat top: "NATIONAL ARMS CO. BROOKLYN NY", sparsely engraved brass frame. CONDITION: fine-excellent overall, retains 80-90% original blue & silver finish. Mechanically fine with good rifled bore. PROVENANCE: L.D. "Doug" Eberhart Collection; James D.
