BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1509. Bbl. 24" medium weight. Top is marked "No. 1509 Griffin & Howe Inc. New York". Bead front sight has a knurled hood and is bbl. band mounted with a stippled ramp. Right side of the action is fitted with a Lyman receiver sight. Carl Zeiss 3/4" tube scope with post reticle and leather covers is attached with a G&H side mount. Custom action has damascened bolt body, extractor, feed rail and follower. Front receiver ring is stippled. Custom bolt handle has 2 panel checkering with flattened inside surface. Two stage trigger is hand checkered. Front edge of the floorplate has semi-circular hand checkering. Fancy walnut classic straight comb stock with shadow line cheekpiece shows striking burl grain in the butt with black & red tones. Toe line of stock has a silver name plate with initials "W.P.W." Sculpted steel grip cap has an engraved screw. Horn forearm tip. Wrap around point pattern hand checkering. Front swivel base bbl. band mounted. LOP. 13-7/8" to a checkered steel trapdoor butt plate with highlights of scroll engraving. Weight with scope is 9 lbs. Griffin & Howe has produced approximately 2800 custom rifles since their inception in 1923. G&H remains a premier builder of fine custom rifles. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: hooded leather scabbard with leather straps and tan binding. Right side has monogram "W.P.W." Scabbard shows light wear with torn binding at the muzzle end. 7 piece steel cleaning rod in stock compartment. CONDITION: fine, metal retains over 98% blue. Stock has very good finish showing small marks with several small dent along the right side of the action Iron forearm tip shows some age related checking. Bright near excellent bore.
