NAMBU SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 8mm Nambu. S# 20748. Bbl. 3 3/4". Type 94 semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Chuo Kogyo arsenal under Nagoya supervision in October of 1941. The left side of the frame is marked with Kanji characters denoting the model designation, with the Showa date code "16.10", Chuo Kogyo / Nagoya arsenal insignias, and the S# marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt., which is polished in-the-white, as well as the trigger, frame screws, and safety lever, which are strawed. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed square notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching, and include the frame, locking block, slide, bbl., bolt, firing pin, and the cross bolt. MAGS: 1 non-matching (S# 185) 6-rd. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting a few small spots of light edge wear, as well as a few scattered spots of light surface oxidation overall. Left side of the slide exhibits a small area of light to mild wear and thinning at the muzzle, with some light pitting present on the rear over the top. Strawed parts retain the majority of their original factory finish, with some exhibiting some light wear and thinning. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain very good overall. Frame retains areas of grease beneath the grip panels. A very high condition example of a 1941 Chuo Kogyo production Type 94 Nambu. (25-2382/MLW). CURIO. $500-1,000.
