GRADE BROWNING SUPERPOSED FIELD GUN ENGRAVED BY MAGIS WITH CASE. Cal. 20 Ga. 3". S# 18740 (1960). The 26-3/8" barrels fitted with matted ventilated rib are marked for IC and mod chokes. St. Louis and Montreal addresses along with chamber information and patent numbers as well as "MADE IN BELGIUM" are on top barrel. Small size coin finished O/U action with gold plated selective single trigger is engraved in normal pointer style, with well cut scroll surrounding oval scenes of dogs on sides. A setter retrieving a duck is on left side and a pointer retrieving a pheasant on right. Both of these delicately cut scenes are signed "M. MAGIS". A pair of quail are on bottom of action and two pheasant; one taking wing, are on trigger guard bow. Long tang round knob buttstock of nicely streaked light colored European walnut measures 13-1/2" over newer black open sided white line pad. Multi point pattern checkering is at grip. Captive field forend matches well. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .621. U .621. Restriction: O .014 (Mod.) U .005 (IC). Wall thickness: O .040. U .039. STOCK: DAH: 2-1/8". DAC: 1-7/16". CAST: neutral. LOP: 13-1/2". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 5 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes in a brown vinyl Browning case lined in dark brown faux fur. CONDITION: very fine. Mostly original, barrels retaining over 80% original blue with scattered light scratches and marks and high edge wear. Action retains nearly all original factory gray finish with some slight evidence of wear and some darkening. Stocks retain nearly all of what appears to be their original finish with a fair scattering of light marks and scratches. Checkering remains light in color. Pad is a later replacement and not well fitted. Bores are bright and shiny, though a bit dirty. Mechanically fine. (23-2134/MGM). C&R. $5,000-8,000.
