Cal. 45. NSN. Bbl. 33" full oct. signed "S. MILLER". The rifle has an unsigned original flint lock. The stock is beautifully curled maple & is incise carved to the rear of the cheekpiece. The rifle has a 4 1/2" brass saddle plate & a 4 piece brass engraved patchbox w/ 6 piercings. The sideplate is typical upper Susquehanna style heavy beveled brass. The bbl. is fastened to the stock w/ 3 bbl. wedges. Miller relocated into upper Susquehanna from Swatara Township, Dauphin County ca. 1825 & little is written about his progress after that. This is a very collectible gun because very few ladies guns or boys guns exist from this school. CONDITION: ramrod is missing, otherwise appears fine & original throughout. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19670/RG). ANTIQUE. $3,000-4,500.
