SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. S# 467160. Bbl. 32 5/8". Blade front sight w/ protective hood. Buffington rear sight. Very fine example retaining a high degree of original case colors & bluing. Case colored 1884 breechblock, upper & upper tang. Walnut stock set w/ two bands & bottom mounted sling swivels. Left side of stock has 1889 dated "SWP" inspectors cartouche & bottom has crisp circle "P" firing proof. Ramrod present. CONDITION: walnut stock shows some light flaking, scattered dings & handling wear. Case colored breechblock & upper tang retain much original finish w/ some light oxidation & light fading. Balance of metal retains 80% original blue w/ scattered fading, light oxidation & light scratches. Very good bright bore. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (01-22498/MJC).
